Sources of Power

Americans don't get to be queen.

Charisma Some leaders are so personable people do what their leader wants because they like their leader. Charisma isn't required but it can be helpful.

Inspiration Some leaders are so admired for their "good works" that their followers want to do what their leader wants done because that makes them a little bit like them. Good leaders inspire others to follow them.

Knowledge Some leaders are so much smarter than their followers that doing what their leader wants them to do just makes sense. Good leaders surround themselves with advisors who help them make wise choices.

Position All legally appointed leaders have the legal right to lead. Failure to follow a legal order is insubordination and grounds for punishment up to termination.

Reward All leaders have reward power. People respond best when treated with respect, are allowed to become the best they can be and know what they do is important.
