Music Ministry: Mary Bennett, Music Director leads this ministry. She organizes, arranges and plays music during church services. Musicians and vocalists are always needed to enrich each service. Contact: Mary Bennett

Vestry: The Vestry is the elected Board of Directors that oversees church operations. Contact: james@stpetersaz.com

Worship Team: The Pastor, Deacons and their Designees plan, oversee and administer the spiritual ministries. James Rhodenhiser (James) is Pastor. Contact: james@stpetersaz.com


 Ministries

Agua Fria Food Bank: Volunteers help with monthly collection of food at the church. Two weekends per month volunteers also pick up food donations from stores and then unload and stock food bank refrigerators with the food collected. Contact: Jeff Hood

Alter Guild: A volunteer group of parishioners care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members also prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up afterwards. Altar Guild members frequently supervise the decoration of the sanctuary of the parish with flowers. Art Festival: Once a year a group of artists show and sell their creations at St. Peters. Contact: Michelle Shipp

Care Portal: Supervised experienced volunteers respond to the needs of hurting children and families child welfare workers have identified then help them meet their needs. Contact: Candice Davis

Circle of Friends: Once a month a group of women bring a dish to share at a potluck at St. Peters. Contacts: Patty Prokosch and Diana Slockett

Columbarium: St. Peters maintains a garden wherein ashes of deceased members may be interred. Volunteers are needed to maintain the garden. Contact: Chanca Morrell, Junior Warden

Community of Hope: Volunteer parishioners provide pastoral care to people who are homebound or unable to attend church. Contact: Linda Schlabach

Daughters of the King: Daughters of the King reaffirm the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation. Each pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism. She receives support in this commitment from a worldwide community of like-minded women. Contact: Caroline Wolfe

Family Promise: Three times a year volunteers sign up to provide, prepare and eat dinner with homeless families for one night during the beneficiaries one week stay at St. Peters. Volunteers to help setting up and breaking down beds are also appreciated. Contact: Leslie Bieler

Grounds Crew: Volunteers use church provided tools to maintain the property by gardening, mowing, tree-trimming, painting, plumbing, power-washing, weed spraying, making minor repairs, maintaining the irrigation system and so on as a way to keep the campus looking good while saving the church money. Habitat for Humanity: Once a month supervised volunteers help experienced construction workers build homes for qualified families across the valley. Contact:Ted Burton

Hospitality: Refreshments are served before and after every Sunday Worship Service. Contact: Marylyn Bradley

I Help: Two Fridays a month volunteers sign up to prepare and eat meals with men and women who are accepted into this Homeless Emergency Lodging program. I Help beneficiaries spend the night at St. Peters. In addition to the need for volunteers donations of bed sheets, towels, underwear and shower products are always welcome. Integrity: Members gather on the second Saturday of each month to share food and drink and to discern how to best minister to the LGBTQ community. Everyone welcome. Contact: Arizona Integrity Coordinators

Juvenile Justice: Volunteer parishioners meet with juvenile offenders, their parents and a probation officer. The goal is to use restorative justice rather than punishment to return children ages eight to seventeen with a minor first-time offense to the path of responsible citizenship. Labyrinth: St. Peter's Episcopal Church maintains a Labyrinth for members of the parish and community. A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. Journey to your center and back again out into the world.

Meal Trains Providing meals for members of our congregation is an important ministry! These meals go to families who are experiencing births, recent surgery, or just need a helping hand. We invite everyone to volunteer! Meal Train is an online sign-up tool on the St Peter's Home Page that allows volunteers and families to better plan for this meals ministry. Men's Group: Twice a month on Saturday morning men come together for breakfast, fellowship, to catch up on what is going on at St. Peters and with each other and for spiritual growth. Optional Bible Study precedes breakfast. All men are welcome. Contact: John Romack

Monday Study Group We meet once a month on a Monday morning to discuss books about spiritual journeys. They met on August 26th on The Book of Joy, a conversation between Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama. Contact: Caroline Wolfe

Montessori School: St. Peters has sponsored a fully accredited Montessori School for children from potty-trained to 12 years of age since the early sixties. The school rents classrooms from St. Peters. Volunteers are always needed to help with campus repairs, gardening, marketing and other ways as issues arise. Contact: Bonnie Shearer, School Director

New Life Center: On the third Wednesday of each month volunteers prepare and serve meals at this concealed address domestic violence shelter. Volunteers also read books and play games with children at the shelter. Contact: Jama Sandoval

Nursery Care: St. Peters provides supervised child care in a well-equipped nursery during every church service and church sponsored activity. Contact: Holly Ruiz

Offsite Worship Teams: Qualified lay ministers bring the Word and Eucharist to senior retirement and living communities. Contacts: Deacon Patrice Cole and Deacon Gary Sawyer

Pete's Eats: The Pete's Eats team prepares and serves breakfast to parishioners before and after each service on the first Sunday of every month. The goals are to bring persons from different worship services together for fellowship and to raise money to pay off Celebration Hall. Volunteer to cook and serve breakfast. Contact: Jeff Swenson

Prayer Shawl: Volunteers meet for fellowship as they create shawls to comfort people in and out of our parish. Contacts:Lori Jeschke and Susan Watrous

Prison and Reentry Ministries: While there are many ways to volunteer one must be thoroughly trained to serve in this essential ministry. Volunteers can join a team and bring the Word and Eucharist to women at the Arizona State Prison Complex at Perryville. Volunteers can mentor women as they leave prison and reacclimatize to the outside world. Volunteers can become a pen pal and send birthday and other cards to a woman who is in prison. Repete Boutique: St. Peters has an excellent well-stocked retail sales supported Thrift Store. Volunteers are needed to process donations, manage merchandise and displays, provide floor assistance and process sales. Profits are used to support St. Peter's Church and its various charitable ministries. Contact: Lody Cooper

SP Kids Godly Play: Volunteer to help with Godly Play or teach, or help teach, a Sunday School class. In addition volunteer to help St. Peters conduct the annual world-class Vacation Bible School. Contacts: Debbie Quick and Selena Guzman

Spazy! Youth: Youth meet for small group discussions and activities from 05:30pm to 08:00pm Thursdays, go on mission trips, participate in statewide youth group activities and participate in worship service as acolytes and ushers. Volunteers are always needed to provide meals, act as chaperones and provide transportation. Contact: Liz Hengst

Tech Team: St. Peters has a very well-equipped, energy efficient high-tech campus. Multiple Information Technology experienced volunteers are needed to project content during worship service, monitor security cameras, monitor and respond to door lock and battery replacement issues and update and maintain the St. Peters, Labyrinth and Montessori School Home Pages. Veterans' Ministry: On the fourth Friday of each month a team of volunteers signs up and prepares a hot meal and then travel to a transitional housing facility where they serve lunch to approximately 70 veterans. Contact: Deacon Michael Douglas

Womens' Study Group: The Womens' Study Group offers an opportunity to enjoy reading and discussing a book together while enjoying fellowship with women who will become great friends. The group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at when and is currently reading Rob Bell’s Love Wins. The group meets in the Space Room, so plan to bring lunch if you want, and join in on the discussion! They would love to welcome you. Contact: Cheryl Whetten
