Leadership has changed. Leaders used to
inherit the role. Today, especially when
high levels of technical skill are involved,
it is often the most qualified person who
leads regardless of age, sex or other
attributes.

Leaders now have to convince, motivate
and influence others to do what they want
done. This is especially difficult when
the persons being led are older or have
more status than their leader.
