Immigration Quandry

Our immigration system is broken and likely to remain that way because politicians, employers, bullies and criminals like having immigrants to exploit.

My paid news source include Peter Ziehan for geopolitical analysis, Heather Cox Richardson for national political analysis and New York Times Columnists David Brooks and Thomas Friedman.

Peter Ziehan uses "big data" like demographics, economics, geography, populations trends and International news feeds to interpret reality and predict most likely geopolitical outcomes. Peter also posts free daily videos

Peter recently posted an interview on the Border Issues. To summarize…

English speaking rule of law Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA are to where ambitious people want to move because these nations are generally peaceful and where the protestant work ethic makes it possible to raise a family and prosper. There are always a few criminals but in general we benefit from their arrival.

Economics: Immigrants add more wealth than they consume.

  1. We are not having enough babies to maintain our population. People mid-twenty to mid-sixty produce, young and old people consume. It is very cost-effective us to bring in working age immigrants, whose educations were paid for by another nation, than it is to grow our own.
  2. Almost all illegal border crossers immediately go to work in blue collar jobs. Rapid reindustrialization has increased the demand for employees and most immigrants will who do jobs Native Americans won't do.
  3. Immigrants pay the taxes that support our population even though they're not eligible to receive those benefits.

Security: Immigrants are a lot less likely than Native Americans to commit crimes.

  1. Having illegal status they cannot use the rule of law to protect themselves. They do their best to stay invisible.
  2. There are so many it is easy to find a rare example of one doing any crime politicians and bullies want to "prove" thereby making them easy to scapegoat.

Politics: There needs to be a legal way for legitimate asylum seekers to enter and earn citizenship.

  1. Law requires we provide asylum to immigrants who have a legitimate fear of returning to where they came from. Congress could change this law but won't.
  2. Once admitted, and having moved to be with family and find a job, only 3% of asylum seekers appear at their immigration court date because they know almost all appeals for legal residency are refused and that they will be immediately deported away from families and back to from where they fled.
  3. Politicians want scapegoats to blame for their inability to make everyone wealthy.
  4. Employers like employees they can exploit.
  5. Criminals like immigrants who are easy prey upon because they lack ability to use our justice system to protect them.

In brief the law is broken and likely to remain that way because politicians, employers and criminals like having immigrants to exploit.
